Memphis car crash kills 1, injures 3

by | Mar 28, 2014 | Car Accidents

The safety of anyone in a moving motor vehicle is often in the hands of the other drivers on the road. Accidents can happen when a driver is reckless, intoxicated, high on drugs, experienced or distracted, but sometimes they just happen because a good driver had a momentary lapse of judgment. No matter what the root cause of a car crash is, it can have an absolutely devastating impact on everyone involved.

Shortly after midnight on March 9, 2014, a car containing four occupants was traveling west through Memphis near the junction of Tenn. 385 and Kirby Parkway. Another car driven by a 24-year-old man attempted to merge onto the roadway when the two cards collided. The impact sent both cars off the road and down an embankment.

The 30-year-old driver of the car that was hit was pronounced dead at the scene. A 26-year-old passenger suffered severe injuries and was transported to Regional Medical Center. She was reported to be in critical condition. Two other passengers, a 25-year-old man and a 29-year-old man, were also taken to area hospitals, but their injuries were not considered critical.

The driver of the car who caused the accident was arrested by local law enforcement. He was charged with not carrying proof of insurance and driving with a suspended license. The man was booked and released on a $100 bond.

Car accidents that result in fatalities or injuries can usually be prevented. In this case, the driver of the car who caused the crash should not have been behind the wheel at all since he did not have a valid license. The victims and their families may opt to seek the guidance of an attorney to help them determine their best course of action in seeking compensation.
