Driver crashes into store, 2 customers suffer personal injury

The idea of a motorist crashing a vehicle into a shopping center store and hitting customers inside seems at first blush to be a very rare occurrence. However, it happens more often than most people would think, and when it does occur, loss of life and personal injury are often involved. It happened in Tennessee just two days before the Christmas holiday when a 60-year-old woman drove her Jeep into a FedEx store and seriously injured two customers inside.

Truck accidents can bring deadly results on state highways

Tractor-trailer trucks loaded with logs are fairly common in some areas of Tennessee. Truck accidents involving a log truck can sometimes cause grievous damage to property and serious injury or death to persons involved. This recently happened on Highway 218  about one mile east of Paris when an SUV operated by a 70-year-old man from Buchanan crashed head-on into a log truck.

Fatal car crash kills 1 and injures 2 on Tennessee 13

Tennessee has a lot of two-lane highways, with one lane in each direction. One fairly sure way to cause a car crash is to pass a car on a two-lane highway without being sure that there is no oncoming traffic approaching in the other lane. Just prior to pulling out into the "passing" lane, the driver must make sure that there is no possibility of approaching traffic.

Some boating accidents may be prevented by mandatory inspections

Automobiles must pass through periodic inspections to assure their basic functional safety. Trucks, trains and planes must be certified as fit through similar checkups. Recreational boats, which are proportionally involved in just as many reported accidents as those other vehicles, are surprisingly not generally subject to mandatory inspections. Because boating accidents and associated personal injuries occur with frequency in Tennessee and surrounding states, the lack of regularly mandated safety inspections represents an important gap in accident prevention regulations that are generally provided by state and federal agencies.

Driver dies in single vehicle car crash that injures 2 others

When an auto accident occurs in Tennessee or any other state, injured passengers are generally entitled to collect from the driver of the vehicle they occupied, but only if their injuries were caused substantially by that driver's negligence. The same applies, of course, if the passenger dies as a result of the car crash. In that event, the decedent's estate is entitled to make a claim on behalf of the decedent against the negligent driver. If more than one driver is negligent, each negligent contributor to the injury or death may be liable for damages, generally in proportion to the degree of fault of each.
